Eating is always one of the most liked activities of a typical Singaporean. I don’t eat a lot but I m still a food lover.
Buffet is one of my favourite eating options. Y? Cos I enjoy choosing from a wide variety of food. My choice of buffet is not those eat all u can pizza/pasta/bba which the choice is almost the same. No. I like to go to hotels to try out their buffets (especially International buffet). I like buffet that includes dessert and the selection is an impt consideration.
Recently, I went to Hotel Rendezvous to try its international buffet. Sad to say, it was quite a disappointment.
There isn’t any good food there. The food are jus average. Not rely worth the price. Luckily I went during the promo (3 dines for the price of 2).
The signature dish there is actually it’s Laksa and durian puree. Laksa, imagine, u can actually get rely good Laksa at hawker centres costing less than $5 (usually just $3). So, why serve Laksa at buffet. Alrite, if there are a lot of selection and the Laksa is jus additional for local lovers, that is a plus. Anyway, I dun find the Laksa fantastic though it’s actually the must try.
The spread are namely as below.
1) salads
2) small selection of sushi
3) not very fresh sashimi (pls do not expect it to be as good as those from reputated Jpn restaurants)
4) satay (I tink so, cun rely remember)
5) few local stir fried stuff (eg, veg, chicken, beef, bee hoon etc)
6) fish maw (this is quite tasty, not soup, actually jus a stir fried dish)
7) Sum cakes (sad to say, they dun hv good cakes here)
8) Ice cream
9) Fruits
10) Durian puree
11) Durian mosse cake
12) Coffee n Tea (I like buffet that serve free coffee or tea)
I believe there are a few more selections but as the food are not fantastic, I simply can’t remember much.
Anyway, if I were to grade it, I would probably give it a 5.5/10. Price is reasonable during promotions.
I’ve tried quite a number of buffets serve at Hotel and to date, I still like Green House (Ritz Carlton) best – maybe becos I’ve yet to try The Line at Shangri la.
Alrite, til my nex post for more food options.
